Who We Are

Amanda and Kathleen met the way a lot of therapists do- in supervision, navigating the joys and very real struggles of early-career clinical work. Somewhere between case consults, deep conversations about what healing actually looks like, and laughing at completely inappropriate times, they realized something: they shared a vision for what therapist training could be- and a frustration with what it usually was.

Both were committed to trauma work. Both believed that effective clinical practice couldn't be separated from an honest reckoning with the systems that shape their clients' lives. And both were tired of trainings that made you choose between clinical rigor and a justice-centered lens.

So they stopped waiting for someone else to build it.

Therapist Training Group was born out of that friendship, that shared frustration, and a genuine belief that when therapists are truly equipped- clinically and systemically- their clients and communities benefit.

There's also a solid chance any conversation between them involves a weird song jingle and some well-timed dark humor. Fair warning.

Meet Amanda

Amanda Steed, LCSW-S is a co-founder, trainer, consultant, supervisor, and group practice owner at Unfolding Collective- and somehow also a present mom, a devoted friend, and a person who still manages to find time to obsess over women’s basketball.

Before she was a therapist she was an enneagram coach, and that deep curiosity about what makes people tick has shaped everything she's built since. As an EMDRIA-approved EMDR consultant, IFS-approved consultant, and ICBT trainer for OCD, she brings serious clinical depth to her work in complex trauma, OCD, religious trauma deconstruction, and neuroscience. As an ADHD clinician herself, she teaches from the inside out- because she knows firsthand what it means to have a brain that works differently.

When she's not building nerdy, liberatory trainings or running EMDR, IFS, and OCD consultation groups, you'll find her decompressing with sour candy and a reality TV binge. She loves a good bit, and she will absolutely set one up when you least expect it.

Confident, direct, and genuinely invested in every clinician she trains- Amanda is the kind of person who makes you better at your job just by being in the room with her.

Meet Kathleen

Kathleen Chandler, LICSW, PMH-C is a co-founder, trainer, and consultant who became a therapist because a trauma therapist changed her life in her twenties and she's spent every year since trying to pay that forward.

She is, genuinely, a nerd. The kind who reads affective neuroscience papers for fun. But she'll also tell you that Indigenous teachings have been understanding the mind, body, and community long before Western science caught up- and she holds both of those truths at the same time. So, you might find her deep in a scientific article, smudging her kids, and pulling tarot cards in the same afternoon.

As an EMDRIA-approved EMDR consultant, IFS Level 2 trained clinician, and PMH-C, her specialties span neurodivergence, perinatal mental health, and decolonizing clinical practice. As an ADHD and dyslexic Indigenous lesbian woman, she doesn't just teach this material- she lives it.

A PNW lifer, hobby farmer, and person with approximately 100 hobbies at any given time, she brings her whole self into every training room.

Warm, curious, and the kind of trainer who will change how you think about the brain and the world your clients are surviving in.
